Banco Español de San Fernando
Founded by Fernando VII in 1829, it was created to try to solve the government's problem of indebtedness to the Banco de San Carlos, a part of whose shareholders succeeded to the new bank. It was conceived as a bank for issuing banknotes and one of its main objectives was to finance the government.
